In All Thy Ways Acknowledge Him

Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Read also Proverbs 3:1-35.

Look at the commands found in the early verses of this chapter: *Mercy and truth . . . write them on the table of thine heart. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart. Lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him. Fear the Lord and depart from evil.*

God*s Word in your memory will insure the guidance of the Holy Spirit. *[He] shall bring all things to your remembrance,* the Savior said of the Comforter who was to indwell each believer (John 14:26). Scripture in your mind means God in your thoughts and grace in your conduct. Trust is the willingness to leave the situation to God*s will, wisdom and power. While you may not know God*s will about everything in your future, enough has been revealed to you to keep you busy obeying Him. Lean not unto thine own understanding means just what it says. *There is a way that seemeth right unto a man,* Solomon warned (Prov. 14:12). *It seemed like a good idea at the time,* mused a convicted Watergate planner. Test your ideas by God*s ideas. In all thy ways acknowledge Him. How do you do this? Start where God starts: *That every knee should bow... and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord* (Phil. 2:11). Walking surely in God*s will is based on constant awareness of His sovereign control. Make Him Lord of all. What*s more, *Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him* (Ps. 37:7). That*s hard to do, when you are impatient and eager for action, but it*s the only wise course.

Small thought here. *Pray your way through the day,* I often urge my friends. You*ll never go wrong when you are praying, *Jesus, guide me now!*
